- In 2025, the Punjab government declared all public parks as “No-Smoking Zones” to completely ban smoking, vaping, and sale of cigarettes or tobacco products inside parks.
- “No Smoking” signage was installed in all parks, and park staff were instructed to monitor compliance and remove violators if necessary.
- Strict smoking bans were also imposed in public places such as government offices, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, and public transport.
- Fines were established for violators: starting from Rs 1,000 for first-time offenders, up to Rs 100,000 for repeated or serious violations.
- Sale of tobacco products within 50 meters of educational institutions remains prohibited, ensuring protection of students from exposure to tobacco.
- Advertising or selling tobacco products inside parks was banned, including at cafes and vending stalls located within park premises.
